Actively seeking full-time opportunities as a Cartographer
The mosaic image above showcases my recently created maps.
🌎 I’m actively seeking full-time opportunities as a Cartographer (on-site or remote). With rich
experience and extensive training in cartography and GIS, my work has been widely recognized — more
details can be found in my portfolio (CartoGuophy.com).
🎓 During my Geography Ph.D. at UW–Madison, I’ve been working at the intersection of GeoAI and natural
hazard applications in the Spatial Computing & Data Mining (SCDM) Lab, while advancing my cartographic
skills through teaching and client projects at the UW Cartography Lab.
🧩 I’ve also had the privilege of working with outstanding teams through internships at Apple Maps, the
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the
Institute for Local Self-Reliance (ILSR). And I’d
love to work with teams across private, public, academic and non-profit institutions.
🏆 I’m grateful that my cartographic work has been recognized with over 70 achievements, including map
design awards from CaGIS, ICA, NACIS, BCS, Esri, WLIA, 5 book inclusions like Atlas of Design and Esri
Map Book, and around 20 media features.
🎨 My mapping exploration spans a wide range of map types,
especially (1) tourism-oriented reference
maps with shaded relief, (2) multivariate symbol maps on natural hazards, and (3) LEGO-style topographic
maps for geographic education. Other topics include event-based thematic maps, news maps, historical
maps, city walk guidance maps, personal trajectory maps, COVID maps and dashboards, tactile/accessible
maps, and crafted/hand-drawn maps.
🗺️ As a self-described “Map Evangelist”, I actively share my
work across online mapping communities, as
well as through invited talks, map galleries, exhibitions, and community events. I believe in the power
of maps to shape understanding, spark action, and build shared vision.
🚀 I’m eager to bring this passion and experience to a team that values strong visual and spatial
storytelling, creative design, and geographic insight. If you know of any relevant opportunities or if
your team is hiring, I’d truly appreciate your connections,
referrals, or shares!
