This map visualizes the hometowns and Madison domitory addresses of Chinese students
who enrolled in regular courses at UW-Madison (excluding summer school)
from 1907 to 1920, in a total of about 160.
The purpose of producing these maps is to make the public aware of the longevity and
magnitude of U.S.-China higher education exchanges based at the UW-Madison, and to
help researchers analyze the human geography behind early Chinese students studying
in the U.S. and assess the impact the study abroad experience on their later lives.
This project is part of the
"Chinese Badgers/Badgers in China" event by Center for East Asian
Studies, which is reported
on news of The Daily Cardinal.
